Jared Leto’s Favorite Gucci Hoodie Is Finally Available (But It’s Really Expensive)
It’s no joke to say?áJared Leto loves Gucci. There have even even been memes have been devoted to this fact. For the past few months, Leto has been spotted in multiple?áGucci hoodies?áthat people (read: us) have been desperate to scoop up. Today, at least two of those hoodies have landed on Gucci’s website, while additionally a T-shirt similar to the logo style?áJustin Theroux has been spotted wearing?áhas also finally been made available for purchase.
That’s the good news. The not-so-exciting news (from your wallet’s perspective at least) is that all of the above comes at a very “hottest brand in the world right now” price. The logo hoodie? That’s a cool?á$1,200, which actually seems not to bad once you see there’s also a $3,300 hoodie which features a beautiful?áembroidered tiger on the front. Meanwhile, the T-shirt has a sticker price of?á$420.
Clearly, Gucci maestro Alessandro Michele (and the Gucci merchandising team) know these items are hot tickets and aren’t afraid to charge prices that reflect the immense hype surrounding them (not to mention the amount of work that went into hand-embroidering that tiger). The fact that the logo hoodie and tee are a wink at the bootleg styles from the 1980s is just another sign of the sometimes confusing, often meta state of fashion we’re currently living in. With items like these Gucci logo hoodies and tees, the once concrete walls between high-end and mass market, authentic and counterfeit are becoming less and less clear by the day. (See:?áVetements x Champion, Off-White x Levi’s.)
But with a prohibitive pricing structure, there’s a better chance you won’t see many others in this hoodie or tee. The only thing is now that anyone can buy ’em, we wouldn’t be surprised if Leto and Theroux are spotted in the coming days in some even newer yet-to-be-released Gucci pieces.
